SMK Sri Permata

One of the schools that was included in my survey and interview for this phd research was SMK Sri Permata in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. It is also environmnetally active ( see their website and blogin my link). With the activities practiced and implaced in their school, they (the principal, teachers and most importantly the students) have embraced, facilitated and incorporated what is referred to as the concept of CoL ( community of learners)Bielaczyc and Collins 1999)and CoP ( community of Practice) ( Lave and Wenger 1991. The theories argue that participation in activities where multiple perspective of learning both formal and informal;engagement and collaboration help nurture a sense of empowerment, understanding and active participation. This is vital for students and teachers as a tool to developing solutions. So, for that, Syabas SMK Sri Permata!

The challenge or question tha comes to my mind now is what can be improved to gain more participation (an equitable one), how to sustain the activities and interest of the students and what good practices ( for replication or model maybe?)that can be used here?
