Today's seminar

One thing good about studying in a foreign university is that you get to practice speaking and communicating in a language other than your own. Today was my turn to present any part of my on going phd research to the Department of Geography at the University and I decided to present the survey I undertook titled "Factors influencing the recycling participation of urban secondary school children in Selangor Malaysia" http://www.geog.canterbury.ac.nz/seminars.shtml There were about 20 people in the audience comprising of my supervisors, lecturers, Erskine fellows, PhD candidates and post grad students. I felt nervous but was determined to go through it because it is afterall part and parcel of a PhD student's life: to present and share your research.

I'm thankful that I didn't get into any technical hitches and the slides appeared alright. As the subject is a common topic I expected many questions. There were about 7questions posed and I answered them to the best of my knowledge.I think it was useful to me as I gained an insight into what people were thinking and how I could use that for my own work.

After the presentation, my SVs approached me and said `Well done but take the comments for further considerations to your next work in progress. Anyway, I feel happy that he is happy.
