Meeting with SVs
I've just had another meeting with my SVs. The subject was my tentative table of contents and my work schedule. As expected at the initial stage I knew they would be appreciative...but then came a list of critical questionings about certain sections which they think i should include but which I had left out?and some sections which I should slash and include in another chapter. My main SV said ` for a phd its not only about the nitty gritty work that you have done, but the overall theoretical underpinings of why you are writing this'. I wish he would just ask me in plain English `so Siti, what is your research paradigm?.Or better still, suggest some way I could attempt the task so I can get on with it. I also get the feeling that maybe Ive left out the overall picture and was just all the while focusing on the details? Or I guess they are really just testing me and pushing me to think deeper and what's that phrase `think outside the box'? Im feeling exhausted and challenged but I hope I will recover soon. Betullah PhD ni,it really is about the perseverance and the patience and overcoming the mental and emotional challenges and taking everything as a learning process...
